Uche Agbo is a filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, director, media and entertainment consultant, public relations strategist, talent development coach, and creative entrepreneur with extensive experience across Nigeria’s film and creative industry ecosystem. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts and a Master’s Degree in Theatre and Film Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.
Uche has held key leadership positions within the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), the apex body of film and television directors in Nigeria, where he previously served as Assistant National Secretary (2016-2018), National Secretary (2018-2023) and later as National Vice President (2023-2025). He currently serves as President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, leading reforms focused on professionalization, global partnerships, industry capacity building, and sustainable institutional growth.
Beyond guild leadership, he is the Founder and Executive Director of the Coal City Film Festival, a major platform advancing Africa film visibility, industry networking, and international cultural exchange. He is also an ex-chairman of the Nigerian Film Festivals Association (NFFA) an umbtrella body housing all film festivals in Nigeria where he worked to strengthen collaboration, policy alignment, and global positioning for Nigeria’s festival ecosystem.
He is an alumnus of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme and is deeply committed to developing authentic African narratives through films, documentaries, commercials, and strategic media productions.
Uche is a member of the Association of Movie Producers Nigeria (AMP), Screenwriters Guild of Nigeria (SWGN) and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and is widely recognized for his contributions to creative industry leadership, mentorship, festival development, and strategic cultural advocacy in Africa.
